Living in North County Coastal
The image of Southern California dreamed up in surf music and beach movies is a real place. Here there are woodies cruising the highway, long stretches of sandy beach with clear blue water, girls in bikinis, and guys with surfboards, both waiting for the perfect wave. North County is the second-most populous region in the county, with an estimated population of 826,985. It is well known for its affluence, especially in Oceanside, Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Solana Beach.
Anchored by historic Highway 101, this stretch of California coastline has a vibe all its own. There's plenty of dining and shopping opportunities, including the Cedros Avenue Design District, the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, several upscale malls, and unique, local boutiques. If you're looking for an active lifestyle, North County has parks, trails, beaches, and lagoons. There are numerous golf courses, and getting around by bike along the coast is as easy as can be.
